Where is Cardross?
Cardross is a large village in Scotland, located on the north side of the Firth of Clyde, between Dumbarton and Helensburgh. It is part of Dunbartonshire historically but is currently governed by Argyll and Bute.
Arriving By Car
Cardross is conveniently accessed via the A814 if you're traveling from either Helensburgh or Dumbarton. If you're coming from Renton, you can take Carman Road; however, please be aware that this route has two cattle grids and lacks any road markings, featuring tight bends and steep inclines. Therefore, while this road has stunning views on approach to Cardross it's important to exercise extra caution, especially during extreme weather conditions.
Arriving By Public Transport
Cardross train station is located near the shoreline of the River Clyde, check the train timetable for details.
A bus service is provided by First Glasgow with stops at 2 locations either side of the village;
Arriving by foot or bike
There are accessible pavements designed to allow walking along the A814 from both directions, Helensburgh and Dumbarton. However, please note that these pavements can be very narrow in certain areas, which may pose challenges for pedestrians. Additionally, a Cycle Path has been in discussion with local authorities for several years. While there are limited sections of the path in place within the village, they do not yet connect Cardross to either Helensburgh or Dumbarton. Currently, it is only possible to cycle along the A814, which is a busy road where a national speed limit applies in certain areas, so it is crucial to cycle with extra caution for your safety.
